What is hosting and why do I need it?
Hosting is the place where your website files will actually “live”. If you wanted to compare hosting to your life, hosting would be the land that your house sits on. You could pick up your house, move it to different places and still have the same house. You choose where you want to put your house based on what you want to be able to do and your budget.
Hosting packages vary in the same way. You pick what you want for the services that you want your site to be able to do. However it goes, you need some sort of hosting in order to have a website.
Billing for hosting can be done monthly, quarterly or annually. The pricing varies per package. For our customers, we set up all of your hosting for you and match the hosting you need with what you want your site to do.
Do you host websites?
Yes we do. We handle all of your hosting concerns for you. We even include it in the price of your site for the first year.
Most of our clients find that even our basic hosting package is more than enough for what they need.
How do we get started?
Contact us via our online form to set up a time to go over what you want to do.
In addition, start to put your ideas down on paper. Ask yourself the following questions:
- What is the purpose of my website?
- Who is going to use my website?
- What do I want to say to my viewers?
We have a “Web Site Essentials” document that will help you gather your thoughts so when we meet, you will have many of these questions answered. Contact us and we will forward this form to you.
What do we need in order to get started?
Once we have talked about what you want and your pricing is all set up, all we need is the content for the website and half of the cost of the site. The remaining 50% is due once your site has been completed.
How do I update my website after it is done?
The answer to this question varies based upon what we have created for you. For many of our customers who are starting up and are just looking for a web presence, the sites that we build can be maintained with any HTML editor by anyone with basic HTML experience.
For some of clients who need an easy solution that provides for quick updates to their website, they simply send us all of the modifications and we take care of them.
The third solution is for us to create a Content Management Solution (CMS) for you. This makes is possible for you, your staff or anyone you assign, to make changes easily to the website. To find out more about our CMS apps…
